Mathematics Enhancement Programme (MEP) offers a free full math curriculum for preschoolers up to 9th grade.
MEP’s math curriculum is rather hands on, having children count real beads, for example, instead of just counting drawings on a worksheet. I like that. Don’t worry if you don’t have beads, by the way, beans work just as well, or marbles, or bits of wadded paper. It’s so easy to get stuck in perfectionism!
This math curriculum is compatible with Charlotte Mason’s teachings, and is recommended by Ambleside Online.
The program also teaches how to come to the answer in a few different ways, something I wish my math education had included.
The Mathematics Enhancement Programme was developed by the Center for Innovation in Mathematics Teaching (CIMT) at the University of Plymouth in the United Kingdom. The math curriculum is currently in use in schools in the United Kingdom.
