Did you know the National Gallery of Art will send loan materials to your mailing address? The loan period ranges from 1-9 months and there are hundreds of resources from which to choose! This is a wonderful resource for Charlotte Mason and classical curriculums, as they emphasize art study. Of course, I think it’s a wonderful resource for every learner!
I have successfully borrowed from the NGA for our homeschool. The items arrived quickly and were easy to use. When we were finished, we shipped them back to the NGA. The only cost on our part was to pay media mail postage for returning the items to the National Gallery of Art.
We received a disc full of photos of artwork, and much to my delight, we also received a dozen or so prints of work (not all resources contain the same amount of materials – this is one of my favorites in the catalog, and an example of all you may receive).
How to get the free loan materials from the National Gallery of Art (US):
- Create a borrower’s ID. Who is eligible to borrow the materials: individuals, non-profit television programs, community groups, and educational institutions.
- Browse the catalog (online or request a print one)
- Order your resources!
- When they’re due, send them back and order another
