Salsa Spanish offers free Spanish lessons for elementary students in grades K-2nd. Each lesson contains a video of puppets and costumed characters. Guess what? You don’t need to know any Spanish to teach these lessons and a full teacher guide for each episode is available, free. The lesson plans are laid out for you, complete with scheduling suggestions and black line masters (drawings), correlating to each video episode.
Denise, who shared this find with us, wrote, “I have tried many, many Spanish programs for my children only to be continually disappointed and discouraged, however, this one, by far has totally exceeded all of my expectations. The children, (and I), are learning Spanish and are using it in our everyday lives. Salsa is really fun and extremely rewarding.”
Description from the Producers:
Salsa is a comprehensive Spanish program for young children featuring puppets, state-of-the-art graphics, animation and a good dose of humor.
Instructors do not need to be certified to teach a foreign language or be familiar with Spanish.
Each video lesson is preceded by a staff development component that familiarizes the instructor with the content and objectives of the lesson, reviews all vocabulary words, and demonstrates the correct pronunciation of all Spanish words used in the lesson. There are 42 video lessons in the Salsa series.

How to Get This Freebie:
- View a list of episodes here, click on the episode name to view an activity page and transcript.
- The site’s main disadvantage is in finding the videos. To view an episode, go to the main Georgia Public Broadcasting page and put “Salsa” into the search box. You will see an unorganized listing of episodes. You’ll have to scroll down to find the episode you need. Tip: the episodes begin with 101, then 102, 103, etc. Copy the URL of the episode, then paste it into the internet address bar to view that episode in your media player (If you don’t copy/paste it, the video will show too small)
